My dear friend Courtney has met a wonderful man, Mark. My heart is so full seeing how happy they are together. I made a quick trip down to Ann Arbor last week so that I could capture some Fall engagement photos for them. After the shoot was finished I got a text from Courtney that said, “I’m a little overwhelmed with my beautiful life/family/friends right now. So spectacular!”. This means everything to me. If my images can play a small part in helping people feel gratitude for their life, to feel thankful and present in the moment, then I’m doing something right. I also hope that as sweet Thea grows, these photos will be a little reminder of just how loved she is. Courta - I’m honored to photograph your beautiful life. I CAN’T WAIT for the wedding.
There is nothing quite like getting married in a place so personal that all of your family heights have been recorded on the inside of the doorframe. Childhood portraits line the walls. Your sister was married in the backyard years earlier and today you see your niece and nephew running around on that same lawn. Now you're marrying the love of your life there - telling jokes in your vows, cutting a cake that your mother-in-law made with painstaking care, eating tacos from your favorite restaurant, having a great friend DJ. For Maurella that fairytale came true on Saturday. Teddy and Maurella wrote the most personal vows and danced the night away under the stars. It was truly a pleasure and we were privileged to be a part of it. I hope you were taking those mental snapshots all day, but I sincerely hope these photos help you remember even more.

These two are clearly inseparable. From the minute they saw each other they could not stop chatting and laughing... and not only that, they were saying things like 'I hated being away from you this morning' and 'We're finally getting married!!!" and Michael kept repeating how beautiful Maddy looked... That blend of excitement and sheer happiness is what I hope everyone gets to experience on their wedding day. They also have an AMAZING group of friends (I have to give a shout out to Kirsten and Dan now - who at this point have referred some of the most fun, loving, and amazing couples to us including these two). Oh, and if you're wondering why there is a picture of Michael holding a croquet mallet, that is because on the morning of his wedding he played a childhood game invented with neighborhood friends that resembles a cross of soccer and field hockey, using the mallets. We loved EVERYTHING about this personal, emotional, beautiful day - Cheers to Maddy & Michael!
Michael and I met at the University of Michigan. We went to school together there and spent the first few years of our relationship together in Ann Arbor. I went to high school across the street from the stadium. My mom and uncle were both athletes at U of M and watching Michigan football on Saturdays has been a family tradition since I can remember. That all sounds super sappy, but let me just tell you that Michael and I geeked out a little bit as we walked onto the field at The Big House for Maribeth and Josh's wedding. These two have been together for over 10 years, Josh is a former U of M football player, and Maribeth's parents have had season tickets for so long that she has only missed 4 home games since the age of two. So to say they are fans is probably a giant understatement. Don't get me wrong, we are more than happy to photograph the weddings of fans from other schools (in fact we have actually documented a wedding where Sparty walked the groom down the aisle!), but I must say, this wedding was particularly special for us. GO BLUE!

Spring is in the air, or at least it is in Ann Arbor! Lauren and Joe fell in love while at U of M's law school, so it is only fair that we spent some time in the law quad for their session. While we were there, we witnessed one of the craziest things that I have ever seen happen during an engagement session. A peregrine falcon swooped down out of a tree and dove into a bush after a squirrel. After several attempts, and a couple passes through the law quad, it flew off with empty talons. We stood there shocked for an excessive amount of time before taking photos again (in some super gorgeous golden light). Life is full of amazing surprises. I'm thankful I get to witness some of them with awesome clients. Happy Sunday folks!
On a beyond hot day last weekend, Emily, Matt, and I ventured into The Arb in Ann Arbor for their engagement session. The hot and humid weather couldn't stop love and giggles. These two are just awesome - here's their preview!
Lindsey and Drew truly feel like friends at this point, and we couldn't be happier for them. They were the maid of honor and best man at Kirsten and Dan's 2013 wedding and I got to know the two of them well through our planning process and super fun beach engagement session in South Haven. Their day was absolutely beautiful and sweet, with the right amount of hilarity mixed in when beanie babies, barney, and the happy couple's 26 pound cat were mentioned during Drew's brother's toast (complete with printed 8x10 pictures distributed to each table at the reception). Amazing. Cheers to Lindsey and Drew!

A little rain can't stop true love and I'm glad that's true because this year we have had a lot of it. Even with rain, Margaret and Kevin's wedding day was absolutely gorgeous. UMMA was gracious enough to let us take photos inside and the Michigan League never disappoints. We are so happy to have been a part of this celebration. Cheers to Margaret & Kevin!
Two absolute sweethearts coming home to Ann Arbor to get married surrounded by family. Simply put: It was a pretty wonderful day. Cheers to Courtney and Evan!

I don't know what to write to express how special Kelly & Matt's wedding was. These two have a very genuine bond which was very apparent in their laugh out loud funny ceremony. But their day was also the perfect mix of funny and beautifully emotional. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house during Kelly's dad's toast. Congrats you two, we wish you only the best.
It's hard to beat a beautiful couple and fall weather. Shana & Caleb met up with me in The Arb on Friday for their engagement session. I had a great time getting to know them better and I cannot wait for their wedding next June!
This session was all smiles. We found some great spots around Kerrytown and Argo Park in Ann Arbor. It has been a while since my last visit to Argo, so it was cool to see how things have changed and learn about some great new river access spots! Even though I'm bummed we won't be photographing Erin and Dave's North Carolina wedding next year, I'm very happy that we were able to meet up for some engagement shots in a special town.
A super sweet couple. A bright fall day. A ceremony in a church with generations of family history. This was a classic and genuine hometown wedding, that we were so happy to be a part of. AND to top it all off, Bob is a dentist and his last name is Love - "Yeah, they call me Dr. Love!"
Natalie and Eugene were married on a gorgeous sunny day in the Arb last weekend. A close group of friends and family were in attendance standing or sitting on blankets up front. We feel very honored to have been a part of this day. Natalie and Eugene have a great sense of humor and promised to grow old together disgracefully in their vows - we wish them all the best in their journey together.
Spring has been a bit late in arriving, but worth the wait. We had fantastic weather and gorgeous light for Lauren and Doug's engagement session in Ann Arbor. Such cuties, check it out.
I met Anna years ago when we played soccer and went to school together... ahh... back in the day... so I was super excited when we were able to reconnect and shoot her engagement session! Oh - and it was pretty great to meet her future husband too :)
Anna and Brandon met at U of M, so we had to take a couple shots at the Big House. It was brutally cold by the way, these two are champs.
Back in December, I had the pleasure of working with Kirsten and Dan. We headed out into a chilly day in Ann Arbor for their engagement session. We started out right downtown in Nickel's Arcade. We wandered through a back alley - into the Diag - and finished with a cozy outfit change in the Arb. Can't wait for their big day in September!
Stephanie & Ryan were married in my hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan on June 23rd. I have known these two for a few years now... Before my mom retired from teaching she worked with Stephanie and my parents are clients of Hantz Financial where Ryan works. I couldn't have been more excited to photograph their wedding and their excitement for this day was very apparent from the first moment I arrived. They are a beautiful couple and they truly welcomed me as a part of their day. It has been a pleasure... Thank you Stephanie & Ryan!
