I’m loving the number of family sessions that I’ve been doing this Summer! I’m here for it. It doesn’t have to take up a ton of time - it can be a quick, uncomplicated shoot at a vacation rental. Memories I made with my own family as a kid during our time “up north” are full of nostalgia and have honestly influenced my life enormously (including moving up here full time). So I’m beyond happy that I can capture and preserve these memories for other families. Like the seasons, time is fleeting - it’s so cliche but true. Document these times together because they go by so fast. Thanks for inviting me you guys!
I have way too much fun photographing this family. You may have seen them before… and they are all awesome. This year was no exception. You can’t go wrong on the grounds of Camp Michigania. The goofing, laughing, and playing was top notch and the soft serve game was strong. I feel lucky to have such amazing friend-clients. Cheers to another Summer session focused on what’s important: family. I love you guys!
Oh, Hannah & Dan... the way they look at each other just makes me smile. The genuine joy and happiness surrounding them and their friends and family made me feel warm & fuzzy all day - even though the weather didn't exactly match. There was a brisk wind for most of the day, but the light was absolutely gorgeous AND the evening ended with a ridiculous neon-colored sunset (I actually pulled them out of their reception by saying "You guys, the sky is exploding!"). Hannah and I went to high school together, so it was truly awesome to reconnect and witness the beginning of her marriage. It was such a special day. **sigh**
Cheers to Hannah & Dan!

Big family - check. Big wedding party - check. Big barn - check. That list translates into one big, rockin' party to kick off Chanelle and Mike's married life together. Heartfelt and handmade decorations could be found everywhere, a great band was playing, and to top it all off, their beautiful baby girl was able to take part in the celebration. Cheers!
This family is gorgeous. Both inside and out. I'm really not exaggerating - Bailey and Visar are so gentle and loving and attentive with their two little kiddos. It was truly a special session. The forecast called for rain coming in and out all day, but we had an amazing window right around sunset that was truly unique and created some amazing stormy cloud formations over lake Michigan. Living up here and taking pictures makes me oh so happy!
Kerrie just emailed me telling me that their wedding day was their version of perfect. I couldn't hope for anything more for such a wonderful couple. Honestly, these two are pretty awesome. They wrote the most touching and heartfelt vows. The ceremony readings were inspiring. I'm just so happy to share this preview with the world - cheers to Kerrie and Lucas!

I met up with Michael and Lauren for their engagement session in the village of Norwood - just south of Charlevoix. Norwood is where Lauren grew up and her parents and grandparents still live there. While waiting for the sun to set a bit more before heading to the beach, we actually stopped at her grandparents' amazing and historic home. The house was built in the 1860's and when I showed interest, her grandmother was more than happy to take me on a little home and garden tour - seriously my job is the best, and it is definitely never boring. I love old homes and I love photographing people in places that have such great nostalgia and sentimental value. Michael and Lauren are seriously sweethearts - it was truly a pleasure to take these shots! And, for the first time, I have a grandmother making an appearance in an engagement session blog post. Love. Love. Love.
