Last weekend we traveled to Chicago for Cassie & Craig's amazing wedding.  We lucked out with some perfect weather and by the end of the evening all of the guests were eating on the rooftop open-air patio bathed in the most glorious golden light ever.  Seriously, I don't know if we've ever photographed pre-dinner toasts in such ridiculous light.

Cassie and Craig truly spent time crafting their vows.  At certain moments during their ceremony I don't know if there was a dry eye in the house.  The tears were balanced out with their wonderful sense of humor and contagious laughter.  I also have to give a shout out to Cassie for wearing a short dress!  I didn't wear a full length dress at our wedding and I have been dying to photograph a bride who also wants to let her legs be free!  As Cassie said to me, "my calves are the most toned part of my body, why would I hide them?"  You do you girlfriend.  I really love you for it.

I also just have to say that I included a lot of dancing photos in this preview.  Normally one of my blog post previews doesn't have this many shots of any one specific part of the day and so I asked Michael, "Is this too many dance photos?" his immediate response was, "Absolutely not.  I think it is your duty to show off that party."  This was one of the most packed dance floors we've witnessed in a long time.  Cheers to Cassie & Craig!

These two are getting married in Northern Michigan next year, but live in Chicago, so we took advantage of our travel schedule to explore some of their favorite local spots!  We began the session at The Oyster Bah, one of their favorite places to grab drinks and - of course - oysters.  I absolutely loved this, because it's a meaningful location for them and gave us such a unique setting for photos!  Cheers to Megan & Evan - can't wait for next year!!

Chicago was really showing off for us this past weekend with comfortable weather, gorgeous sunshine, and an absolutely lovely couple: Cory & Mark.  They read very personal vows to each other, created a time capsule of their relationship during their ceremony which they plan to add to every year, and they are just so visibly calmed by being around each other.  It was such a privilege to travel to Chicago and document their wedding!  The big city is a change of pace from our work & life in Northern Michigan, but that's exactly what can make this job so great.  Cheers to C & M!

I liked Sharon immediately... not surprising - considering she is the sister of a good friend who I studied abroad with!  Sharon and Nick have been together for 9 years and it shows when you watch how caring, silly and fun they are around each other.  They met in high school, so of course we had to go back to their old stomping grounds to start our session... and it didn't stop there.  We also went to an actual working drive-in movie theater, walked through gorgeous fall leaves with enormous balloons (also Sharon's idea), hit up a local soccer field at sunset, and finished the evening with frozen yogurt.  I have a feeling the wedding is going to be one heck of an event.
