CASSIE & CRAIG // A CHICAGO WEDDING AT THE PEGGY NOTEBAERT NATURE MUSEUM

Last weekend we traveled to Chicago for Cassie & Craig's amazing wedding.  We lucked out with some perfect weather and by the end of the evening all of the guests were eating on the rooftop open-air patio bathed in the most glorious golden light ever.  Seriously, I don't know if we've ever photographed pre-dinner toasts in such ridiculous light.

Cassie and Craig truly spent time crafting their vows.  At certain moments during their ceremony I don't know if there was a dry eye in the house.  The tears were balanced out with their wonderful sense of humor and contagious laughter.  I also have to give a shout out to Cassie for wearing a short dress!  I didn't wear a full length dress at our wedding and I have been dying to photograph a bride who also wants to let her legs be free!  As Cassie said to me, "my calves are the most toned part of my body, why would I hide them?"  You do you girlfriend.  I really love you for it.

I also just have to say that I included a lot of dancing photos in this preview.  Normally one of my blog post previews doesn't have this many shots of any one specific part of the day and so I asked Michael, "Is this too many dance photos?" his immediate response was, "Absolutely not.  I think it is your duty to show off that party."  This was one of the most packed dance floors we've witnessed in a long time.  Cheers to Cassie & Craig!

MARY & BRICE // A FALL WEDDING IN NEW ENGLAND

A year ago Mary reached out to me and asked if we ever travelled for work.  She was planning her wedding in the Boston area and wanted us to be the ones to document it.  I was - and still am - so moved by this.  Mary and I both grew up in Ann Arbor and probably hadn't seen each other in 10 years.  So every time we would have a planning phone call or video chat it was so fun to reconnect and inevitably the planning part would divert into conversations about life and pets and career changes.  It was great.  The day finally arrived and the joy that Mary and Brice shared was just glowing from both of them.  It was so fun to be in a completely new environment too.  I'm pretty sure I was saying stupid things like "It's so New England-y here" the entire weekend.  To top everything off they had an absolutely ROCKING band that crushed this song at the bride and groom's request.  Mary & Brice, you guys are the best.  Cheers!

KELLY & BRIAN // MARYLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Kelly and Brian's entire family truly treated us like their own family for their entire wedding weekend.  They brought us out to Maryland, and made sure we were well taken care of the whole time.  It really made us feel appreciated and for that we give them all a HUGE THANK YOU!  We first met these two when we photographed Kelly's brothers wedding, so it was great to see the gang again!  Brian and the guys played golf in the morning, Kelly and the ladies enjoyed mimosas at the beach house, and since they are both police officers (and met during a ride along) they found fun ways to incorporate that into their day - including a tier of amazing doughnuts! ;)  Cheers to Kelly and Brian!

UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY // FLORIDA KEYS // ISLAMORADA

Our Southern Road trip at the end of March took us all the way to the Keys for some diving.  If you follow along with us on Instagram you may have already seen some sneak peeks ;)  We found a perfect Airbnb in Islamorada and spent three days diving through Islamorada Dive Center.  It was a greatly needed getaway for us, with just the right blend of relaxation and adventure.  Below are a handful of our favorite shots.

ERIN & MICHAEL // WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY PREVIEW // CANANDAIGUA, NY

Michael grew up outside of Rochester, New York so we love it when we have a chance to visit for work!  Canandaigua is a really cool little town and it was absolutely perfect for Erin and Michael's fall wedding.  Erin had the most amazing 'first looks' with both her dad and her brother.  In the church before their ceremony Erin and Michael stood on opposite sides of a pillar and read letters that they had written to each other.  We took portraits in the amazing Sonnenberg Gardens and the party lasted well into the night with tons of energy.  By the looks of it, the rest of their lives will be one great party!  Cheers E & M!

LEE & MIMI // WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY PREVIEW // NEW ORLEANS

I still have to pinch myself and say "Yes, we were really in New Orleans last weekend".  It still feels so amazing to me that Lee and Mimi asked us to come down to NOLA to photograph their wedding.  I am truly honored.  We had an unforgettable time working with these two absolutely wonderful people.  It was a day that represented a beautiful mix of family, with personal touches reflecting the special character of New Orleans.  In my opinion every wedding from here on out should have a Second Line!  Cheers to Lee & Mimi!

NINA & JOXE // FEATURED WEDDING // NICASIO, CA

Yesterday, I spent some time looking back through our 2014 weddings in order to update the slideshow on our wedding portfolio home page.  I'm so glad that I did, because it made me so proud of the imagery that we created this year and it made me feel happy and oh so thankful that we get to do what we do.  I'm not going to pretend that a full season of weddings every weekend with travel and non-stop editing doesn't tire me out, but looking through some of last season's highlights was truly rejuvenating.  I'm also not embarrassed to tell you that last night I sat on the couch with a glass of wine watching the slideshow on our own website scroll on repeat... and maybe I was listening to some Etta James.  Although I am NOT an advocate of music embedded in websites, if you happen to listen to this while watching you might just pick up some good vibes too.

And if that's not enough, I also curated a set of images from Nina & Joxe's wedding to appear as a featured wedding on our site.  Their Rancho Nicasio wedding this past July was one for the books.  With a blend of Italian, Mexican and Basque culture, a bilingual ceremony, colorful decor in the Northern California hills, and two of the most gorgeous people inside and out, it was truly a hard day to beat.

J & STEPH // WEDDING PREVIEW // VICTOR, NY

Jonathan and Stephanie are two of our very close friends and we are so excited to share this preview with them - and you!

A backyard wedding.  Foraged florals.  Cake baked by J's sister.  The closest friends and family.  Lawn games.  BBQ catering and a cigar and whiskey bar to finish off the night under a beautifully lit tent.  Congratulations J & Steph, we couldn't be happier for the two of you, thanks for having us.
