Sustainability
As a business owner I believe that I have a responsibility to consider the materials that I’m using when creating my work. I can’t promise that every single thing I’m doing right now is 100% sustainable. But I can promise that I’m always trying to improve. I will always continue to search for eco-friendly materials and make changes whenever possible. Here are some of the things that I’m doing right now:
Each image transfer is made from reclaimed wood. I’ve developed relationships with local contractors who provide me with leftover lumber in order to keep it out of the dumpster. I’ve become familiar with multiple scrap bins at lumber yards around Northern Michigan. I love the fact that these pieces of wood could have ended up in a landfill or burn pile, but instead they are gracing the walls of your home, retail space, or office.
All of our screen printed products use water-based ink. Water-based inks are gentler on the environment and simply don’t contain toxic chemicals like phthalates or pvc.
In 2020 our greeting cards will come with post-consumer recycled kraft envelopes and compostable clear sleeves. Please know that we are transitioning to these new sustainable materials and some of our older stock will not have these envelopes and sleeves until a later date.
I’m making a commitment to avoid using plastic as much as I possibly can. Whether it’s selecting packaging material, using plant based clear sleeves, or choosing string and metal for apparel hang tags, I’m doing the best I can to reduce single use plastic.
